Date:          Feb 11, 2004

Location:     Round Table Pizza, Pasco WA

Location: We moved our meeting location to the Pasco Round Table Pizza and it was much quieter than the Kennewick location.  Plus, offering all-you-can-eat pizza during our meetings has been a big hit!

Insurance:  Bob Bromm reported that insurance rates have gone up a little. Insurance will be purchased for the year at approximately $1200.

Treasurer:  Jim ?the Whiner? Berkey reported that the SSSCC has $4200 in CD?s and $1200 in the checking account.

Rally:  Bob Bromm announced that the rally will be held on May 15, 2004.  It will be a non-speed, gimmick rally followed by a BBQ.

Other Clubs:  Four members of the local Mustang Club attended the meeting and indicated that they would like to participate in our races.  Thanks to Victor and Vickie Livengood for contacting local clubs and informing them about us.  It should help attendance at our events this season.

Advertising:  Mitch ?The Mouth? Lewis handed out about 100 color-laser-printed Come Race with Us cards. He is going to order 1000 high quality, cards printed on glossy card stock.  A number of members are planning to go to Hastings Night and hand them out.  Mitch has prepared a nice advertising poster file that he will provide to anyone for printing.  He is continuing to investigate ads in the Thrifty Nickel and TidBits.  It was concluded that radio and TV ads are too expensive.  Victor Livengood is ordering hats and polo shirts with the club logo monogrammed on them will be produced and sold.  Please contact him if you?re interested in purchasing club merchandise. livengoods@ssscc.org

Course Designers/Assistant Course Designers Still Needed: The following events still need course designers: May 29, 30, 31, June 20, August 21, August 22, October 2 and 3.  Remember, the best way to learn how to design a course is to volunteer to be a Assistant Course Designer.  Please contact Victor at: livengoods@ssscc.org to sign up.

Course Designers Guide:  A guide for course designers containing tips, rules, etc. will be available on our web site soon.  Mark Reib also volunteered to print out a few hard copies that will also be available.  If you?re planning on being a course designer this season, this is a must read.  The guide is very well written!

Car Classes:  The clubs new classes were discussed again.  It was pointed out that the Street Tire Class and Ladies Class will both be handicapped using the PAX system.  Mitch explained how the Timing Committee (Mikey Hall and Mitch Lewis) will implement scoring using the PAX index.  It was estimated that there will be 10 to 15 entrants in the Street Tire class.

Training Day:  Registration will be limited to the first 30 entrants that pay the $50 registration fee.  Payment must be received by March 17th.  Each participant will get approximately 20 runs.  We are shooting for 1 instructor for every 2 or 3 participants.  It was decided to give out-of-town instructors free admission to the race on Sunday.  If you would like to participate in the Training Day, please contact Victor at: livengoods@sssscc.org.  Slots are filling quickly.

Trailer Organization:  Gene Wattenburger has been a huge help further upgrading the clubs trailer. The old metal shelves were removed from the trailer and new Rubbermaid bins were purchased.  Gene also installed a new roof vent that actually seals!  Thanks to Gene and everyone that has helped with upgrading the trailer over the years (Greg Swank, Gary Maupin, etc?)

Season Point Championship:  Jim Berkey proposed a unique season point system. The winner of each class will receive 100 points. All contestants below that will receive the ratio of the winner?s best time to their best time, times 100.  i.e., Mitch wins his class with a time of 96.5 sec. and Bill gets 102.0 sec. Mitch will get 100 points and Bill will get 96.5/102.0 X 100 = 94.6 points.  You must attend at least 5 races to qualify, and the best 9 out of 12 races will be counted for year-end points.

Mustang Show:  The SSSCC will have a table at the Mustang Club?s big show and shine event at Howard Amon Park Memorial Day Sunday.  Thanks to Vic and Vickie for manning the booth for the day!

Status of TCR Negotiations:  Paul Alderman wants to raise our fee from $350/day to $450/day.  On the bright side, he has agreed look into no longer needing the EMT and ambulance.  This would save us $120 per event.  A committee is being formed to further negotiate with him.

Northwest Championship:  The idea of a ?Northwest Championship Series? is being discussed with events held between the Tri-Cities, Spokane, Seattle, and Portland.

It was another successful club meeting.  We?re all looking forward to the start of the 2004 season!
