SSSCC MEETING MINUTES                                                                                       March 10, 2004

23 members were in attendance. The meeting was chaired by Mitch ÒThe MouthÓ (SSSCC President).

  • Tri-City Raceway final site/rate negotiations are complete. Per day fees went up $100 to $450/day, but the need for an EMT was eliminated, which cost $120 per day, for a net reduction of $20 per day. The setup crew can now test the course at full speed because of elimination of the EMT requirement. This will help make sure our courses don't exceed the 70mph limit dictated by our insurance company. We always need to be extra careful performing these test runs (no other cars or people on course).
  • 2004 SSSCC Hats are now for sale for $12 and they are going fast! Contact Victor Livengood at livengoods@ssscc.org They are available in black, royal blue, and khaki with a red bill. They will be available for purchase at our first event. Shirts and jackets with our logo will be available in the future.
  • 2004 SSSCC Promo Cards are ready. We have 1000 cards for distribution around our area. Contact Mitch at mitch@ssscc.org to get some to help promote the club. Vic suggested that we not blanket a parking lot with them so that they end up as trash on the ground. That would give the club a negative image.
  • 2004 SSSCC Poster is finished.  We have 100 copies for distribution around our area. Contact Mitch at mitch@ssscc.org to get copies and help promote the club.
  • 2004 SSSCC Rule Book is finished.  A few copies were passed out.  You will be able to download it from the clubs website soon in both PDF and MS Word format.
  • The ÒDrivers EdgeÓ drivers training day is sold out at 32 attendees. Payment was due at the meeting and everyone is now paid up. The school will consist of two courses and each attendee will get approximately 11 runs on each one. There are 8 instructors confirmed which yields 2 students per instructor, per session.
  • Last months Chiefs Meeting had great attendance. Changes were made to Registration process. There is now one form that contains your car/contact info, worker assignment and tech approval. All three areas must be completed before you can pay and be entered into the event. At our first event only, Worker assignments will be made during the Drivers Meeting rather than in advance. This is because we don't know what the participation will be for the new car classifications. Once we have participation number after the first event, we can start forming run groups. A change was also made to Tech Inspection. From now on, Tech Inspection will be performed in one place. Drivers will be responsible lining their cars up for Tech Inspection. Hopefully we'll have two lines. It is not the Tech Inspectors job to class cars, each member is responsible for classing their own car. 2 or 3 people will be assigned to the registration table to help class cars for the first couple of events.
  • The Sponsorship Drive was very successful. Steve's Tire Factory donated $350, Traffic Jams donated $300, Quicksilver donated $100 and McCurley also donated $100. Indy Karts donated 2 free passes per event (we haven't decided what to do with them yetÉmaybe a raffle?). Members are strongly encouraged to patronize our sponsors. If these companies see business coming in as a result of their sponsorships they will be encouraged to continue their support in future years. Even if you don't purchase anything, please tell them that your from the SSSCC.
  • We have some new donations to the clubs Timing System. A printer donated by Mark Reib, and another monitor donted by Gene Wattenburger's son. Thanks everyone! We still need a backup mouse and keyboard.
  • New planned website additions were discussed:
    • Parental Consent / Minor Waiver form
    • ÒWhat Is AutocrossÓ information page
    • Steve's Tire Factory 2004 Season Championship page
    • Printable car numbers
    • Club merchandise page
    • Blank entry form
    • Chiefs checklists
    • Course Worker checklists / Drivers meeting info
  • It was agreed that the club adopt the SCCA's recommendations for legible car numbers. If you plan to have vinyl numbers made up this season, make sure they are at least 8Ó tall with a 1.5-inch stroke. Check the SSSCC's rules for more details.

Volunteers are still needed for Course Designers. See the list below for available opportunities.

I know that we had additional volunteers. I remember Nick Windom and his friend signing up for Assistant Course Designer positions, sorry we've misplaced them. Nick, can you contact Mitch (mitch@ssscc.com) and let him know what dates you both signed up for?

Greg Swank, Mark Jennings, Jim Walker, Morris Green, Steve Schreiber, Gene Wattenburger, etcÉ Anyone who has been multiple seasons of autocrossing under their belts. Why not volunteer for Course Designer for one event? We've got a great season planned; please help be a part of it.
