NEW BUSINESS
Dust Devils Site Report
Mitch, Lynn and Bob attended the Tri-City Youth Soccer club meeting to introduce them to autocross. We can use their restrooms for the winter series, but will have to pay $20 to have them cleaned after each weekend. The cost of sweeping the Dust Devil lot is still being reviewed. It probably won't be done in time for the January events.
New Timing System Update
We are purchasing the new timing system. We have received the Dell laptops and wireless links. We are waiting for the JA Circuits box to be built.
Advertising/Promotion Update
Mikey Hall is contacting the sports editor at the TC Herald. Hopefully he can get them to do a story on us sometime this season.
New Northwest Broadcasters Radio needs a t-shirt design using the Daytona 500 theme; so Mitch will trade some graphic design work for free radio airtime for the club. The State Patrol is interested in working with us on a public service announcement to reduce local street racing, and introduce autocross as a good alternative.
Slush Series Report
Dates for the Winter Slush series were finalized; January 22-23, February 12-13, and March 5-6. All events will be at Dust Devil stadium. You must pre-register online to participate. Mikey is looking for a possible social event Saturday night, January 22. Casa Chapala in downtown Kennewick was one suggestion.
Driving School
April 9 is the date for the annual driving school, with the first Master Transmissions Season Championship event starting April 10. This will now reduce the number of season championship events to eleven. For the driver's school, as a general guideline, we will want to sign-up rookies or novices with less than a year-and-a-half of driving experience. The school will be held at the Dust Devils Stadium site. Classroom time on Friday, April 8 will be also be part of the school. Lunch will be provided on Saturday during the school (April 9th). There will be 10 instructors and 40 students. The cost is $50.
Master Transmissions Championship Series Update
We will have eleven events this year. We'll have three or four weekends at Dust Devils, with the remainder at Tri-City Raceway. We are also considering traveling to Yakima for an event, and there was lots of interest in attending Northwest Region and Oregon Region SCCA events at Packwood.
The club now has a full size barbeque that can be stored in the trailer. Thanks Bob!
Sponsorship Search
We are looking for more sponsors for this season. Howard of Master Transmissions reminded us that we could use in-kind donations like our event awards. Traffic Jams wants us to do a 2005 season t-shirt.
Awards
This may be done differently this year by possibly printing off one standard award or plaque, and using stickers to designate the finishing position. We could also use a plaque for the first, first place win for a member, and then use a sticker or medallion to put on the plaque after that. An awards formula worksheet was handed out. It bases the number of awards on the number of participants in the class. The Awards Committee will make the decision on this formula. But expect to see more than 3 awards given out in the larger classes this season.
New Class Structure Proposal
The proposed 2005 class structure was reviewed. The National SCCA designates 32 car classes. We need to reduce the number for our club to encourage competition. First, we try to group by size of car. Second, we try to segregate stock class cars from non-stock cars. Finally, we will use the PAX system to further equalize the cars within the class groupings. The vote approved the new structure which can be found on the website.
