CHIEF OF TIMING CHECKLIST

 

Before Start of Season

Develop detailed setup instructions for timing system.

  • How to setup timing lights
  • How to connect cables (to computer and to each other)
  • How to setup computers
  • How to turn on computers and load software

 

Before The Event

  • Discuss with Chief of Workers, what club members are trained/qualified to work in the timing trailer.

 

The day before (while they are setting up the track), put all the timing light batteries on the charger so they charge overnight. (the Chief of Trailer may do this for you)

 

 

Morning Of Event

Find volunteers to help with setup of the following equipment:

  • Setup main laptop (inside timing trailer)
  • Setup secondary laptops and label printers (for use by registration)
    • Should have a clear view of Start Line for Announcer
  • Run timing light cables-Start and Finish
    • There are short cables that run from the JACircuits timer to box mounted on the exterior of the trailer.  You should connect the long cables to these short ones.
  • Setup timing lights-Start and Finish
    • Bring radio to communicate with timing trailer to test timing lights
    • If setup correctly, the light on top of the main timing light should flash rapidly.
    • Refer to timing light setup manual if necessary
    • Make sure timing light batteries are fresh
  • Setup P.A. System
    • Amp/Microphone (set up next to Remote Terminal near Start Line)
    • Speaker (put on top of trailer facing grid/pit area)

 

Make sure all entrants into the main lapop (Chief of Registration may help you with this).

 

Post list of entries on side of trailer so drivers can double check information.

 

Give another copy of entries to Chief of Workers

 

 

At Event

Make sure timing workers are ready to go and that they understand how to run timing equipment/software before the session starts.

 

 

After Event

Print copy of final results by class.

Print copy of final results fast times

Save all results to disk and give to (email?) Webmaster for posting on website (Webmaster maybe help with this processes)
