CHIEF OF WORKERS CHECKLIST

Before The Event

Develop Run Group List based on last season's results. (or after each event)

  • All drivers in a given class should run in the same Run Group (the only exception being the Novice Class)
  • Try to assign the classes up so that there is an equal number of entrants running and working.
  • If possible, Novice class entrants should be scheduled to work in the morning and run in the afternoon.

Recruit 1 or 2 workers to help you with Worker Assignments during registration.

Assign as many workers in advance as possible

  • Via pre-registration (you will get this info from the club webmaster)
  • Via email (post an email to the club mailing list)
  • Via telephone (call people that have volunteered in the past)

Ideally you'll get everyone signed up in advance so that you can devise your Run Group List before the event (instead of at the event)

Assign the following for each session (Morning and Afternoon)

  • 2 or more Course Workers at each worker station
  • 1 Course Control worker
  • 1 Grid worker
  • 1 Starter
  • 1 Announcer

NOTE: Ideally, novices should be assigned as course workers (non radio).

The day before the event, other chiefs will provide you with their volunteer workers for Setup, Registration, Tech and Timing (you might have to remind them).  Fill out the Worker Assignment Sheet and bring it to the event.

Morning Of Event

Set up Worker Assignment area near Registration 15 minutes prior to registration opening.

  • Assign and instruct your volunteer(s) on the Worker Assignment process.

Worker Assignment

  • Refer to your Run Group List and fill in the remaining worker positions (based on their class)
  • If necessary obtain a printout of all entries/classes from Timing just before the Drivers Meeting.  Us it to determine that each driver is assigned a position.
  • Make sure that a radio with fresh batteries; fire extinguisher; and flag are at each worker station.

Before Each Session (Morning & Afternoon)

  • Use your completed Worker Assignment List to check in workers by name before each run group (Morning and Afternoon)
  • Ensure that course workers understand their responsibilities.
  • Ensure the course workers know where their worker stations are located.
  • Ensure the course workers/worker stations have a map showing their cone coverage areas.
  • Ensure that all worker positions are filled for each session.

After event is over.

Return all worker supplies to designated areas.

Audit the Worker Assignment List and report those who did not complete their work assignments to a club officer.
