Name: Bob Bromm

Home town: Southern California

Occupation: Engineering Manager at Hanford

Personal: I'm married to Peggy the Recluse. We have 3 grown children, one getting married in November. Two of them live in So Cal where we came from 3 years ago and one lives in Richland. My son in San Diego raced with us twice last year and beat me once. I've been with Fluor now for 20 years and came to the Hanford Project with them in November 1999. I'm currently the Chairman of the American Nuclear Society and on the campaign committee for Claude Oliver, Benton County Commissioner (vote for him, he's going to help bring a NASCAR track to the Tri Cities)

Autocrossing experience: I raced a Porsche 914-2.4L in Idaho from1981 to 1985. Then my kids started growing up and I traded the sports car for a minivan. As they got into Jr. High School I traded the mini van for a 10 passenger vanpool van. When they got into High School I traded up to a 15 passenger vanpool van. Now that they've all left home for college and beyond I've traded in the van for another sports car. I started with an older Mustang then traded for a not so old Corvette. I joined the SSSCC last year and this year I am the secretary/treasurer for the club.

Primary autocross vehicle and class: Bone stock 1990 Corvette roadster in the Street Tire Class (C8).

Major modifications: Nada. Zip. Zilch.

Modifications that made the biggest difference: Learning to drive it like a mad man, thanks to riding with Mitch, and driving it with a full tank of gas rather than an empty one (it would run out of gas on long sweeping turns).

Modifications that made the least difference: NA

Future modifications to help make your vehicle more competitive: Take an Evolution Driving School

Other current or past autocross vehicles: Porsche 914 and Mustang 5.0

Worst thing about autocrossing: Working your hardest to get your best time, then letting Mitch drive your car for the first time ever and watching him beat you by 5 seconds.

Best thing about autocrossing: Watching Jim Daniels in another Miata beat Mitch's best time by 4 seconds.

Best driving tips: Push it until you know you're going to spin out of control, then push it another 5 mph faster.

Best advice for a beginner: Don't be self conscience or afraid of losing. It's all for fun anyway.

My ideal car: A Corvette Z06 with a 400 hp engine.

Opinion of your current car for autocross use: It's much better than I am

Awards/Wins/Accomplishments: 2nd in BS2 last year with the Corvette, 1st in the Black Otter Hill Climb with the 914, and a garage full of trophies from the 914
